In 2012 the Western Australia Department of Housing and the city of Canning began planning for the redevelopment of one of metropolitan Perth’s most historically challenging social housing precincts, the 25 hectare Brownlie precinct. The regeneration project’s ambition is to add an additional 1,500 housing units to the site along with a rich mix of community and recreational facilities and retail amenities, transforming the precinct into a lively mixed-income, mixed-use, and more environmentally sustainable area. Success will require a comprehensive repositioning of the precinct in the metro Perth market, and diligent performance management of a variety of customized development solutions.
The Next Practice has been engaged by the regeneration partnership to undertake market analytics (e.g., price performance analysis), lead a multi-party strategic design studio, and support the development of the project performance management framework and approach.
